This piece was painted live in Fort Collins, CO during a set played by the band Wasteland Hop. This is a band I’ve created and collaborated with for over 10 years now, and they continue to be deep, expressive, creative experiences for everyone involved. This painting was particularly poignant because this show they had was the first they’ve played back in the flow with their new drummer, after losing their original one after he passed a few years back. For me it was the same beautiful time, but also very different, but also still similar. They have a new energy to them that hasn’t been there in recent times, and also there’s the touch of the bittersweet. Living this life with a revolving cast of characters is a trip, and at times it feels more like a dream than what we would call reality.
